Enefit operates both surface and underground mines with an annual production capacity of 18 million tons.

IMPROVING MINING EFFICIENCY

Enefit has developed and operated 5 surface and 14 underground mines in Estonia, as well as continuously improved operations by increasing mining efficiency. Enefit is implementing new technological solutions to reduce mining losses, equipment and miners needed for extraction.

In surface mines, Enefit has increased efficiency by improving the open cast mining method with non-blasting methods. In underground mines, Enefit plans to implement longwall mining, which will decrease mining losses from 22–35% to 5–10% and reduce environmental impacts.

FROM FORMER MINING AREAS

Enefit is experienced in mine reclamation and giving new value to former industrial areas. Enefit is committed to the recultivation of formerly mined areas in environmentally sustainable and community-focused ways.

In co-operation with the local municipality we are creating possibilities to spend holidays and organise top water sports events on the former territory of Aidu opencast mine.
